BG Parks and Recreation's activities staff is hosting a veggie version of the soapbox derby at this week's Downtown Farmers' Market.
The Zucchini 500 race is open to racers 3 to 16 years old with race vehicles crafted from zucchini.
There is no fee to enter; race check in is at 5 p.m., with the green flag dropping at 5:30. Racers will be divided into weight categories and there will also be awards for Largest, Smallest, Best Decorated, Most Unique, Best Bowling Green Themed entries.
