State may hike funds for schools

The Ohio Senate proposed an education funding plan this week that would send more money to school districts.
The plan would increase state spending on K-12 education in the two-year budget by more than $717 million.
According to numbers provided by State Senator Randy Gardner, R-Bowling Green, local schools could see the following funding changes:
• Bowling Green - State Aid Base Fiscal Year 2013, $6,585,119; Estimated State Aid FY 2014, $6,996,689 (+$411,570) +6.25 percent; Estimated State Aid 2015, $7,731,341 (+$734,652) +10.5 percent. State Share Index, 34.12 percent.
• Eastwood - No change from FY 2013 $6,038,481. State Index Share, 45.41 percent.
• Elmwood - State Aid Base FY 2013, $6,369,522; Estimated State Aid FY 2014, $6,489,678 (+$120,155) +1.89 percent; Estimated State Aid 2015, $6,551,798 (+$62,120) + 0.96 percent. State Share Index, 62.15 percent.
• Lake - State Aid Base FY 2013, $4,001,209; Estimated State Aid 2014, $4,251,284 (+$250,076) +6.25 percent; Estimated State Aid 2015, $4,697,669 (+$446,385) +10.5 percent. State Share Index, 47.05 percent.
