BGSU softball wins twice
VALPARAISO, Ind. - Bowling Green State University's softball team beat Valparaiso in a nonleague doubleheader Tuesday, 6-3 and 5-0. The Falcons are 20-12 overall.
In the opener, Paige Berger was 3-for-4 and Katie Yoho hit a three-run home run for the Falcons.
In the second game, Jamie Kertes pitched a four-hit shutout for the Falcons, striking out four and not walking a batter. The game was called in the middle of the seventh inning due to darkness.
Erika Stratton was 2-for-4 with two RBI for the Falcons and Emily McClelland also drove in two runs.
Also, Berger is the Mid-American Conference East Division softball player of the week.
The senior first baseman, batted .500 and had an .571 on-base percentage in six games last week, helping BG go 5-1 overall and 3-1 in the MAC. She also had nine hits, three home runs, nine runs, 20 total bases and a 1.111 slugging percentage.
