To the Editor: Green Party candidate in BG supports fracking amendment

As Chair of Wood County's Green Party and candidate for Bowling Green Council-at-Large, I need to respond to misleading statements about the charter amendment we will vote on in November.
This amendment has to be more than a fracking ban. The State of Ohio has authority over fracking, so city ordinances banning it have been easily overturned. Instead, the amendment says every citizen has a right to clean air and water, and to peacefully enjoy their homes. By protecting the air and water, we can ban fracking's toxic chemicals from Bowling Green. Technically, if they could frack without producing pollution or disturbing the peace, it would be allowed. The amendment affirms the rights of every citizen in Bowling Green to peacefully enjoy their homes. Any potential fracker would have to offer everyone recompense for lost home value or loss of enjoyment of their property.
