TOLEDO - The day in court for an area businessman, who owned seven IHOP franchises and is accused of a number of federal crimes, will wait until next year.
The trial of Tarek "Terry" Elkafrawi, Middleton Township, has been postponed until May 19, 2014, with a plea deadline set for Jan. 31, 2014. The motion to postpone was approved by U.S. District Court Judge David A. Katz in a document filed Wednesday.
Elkafrawi is one of 18 people indicted in the case, which involves charges including money laundering, harboring undocumented workers, identity theft and insurance fraud involving the restaurants, one of which is located in Perrysburg Township.
