Village council Tuesday night unanimously agreed to file an Issue I grant application with the Ohio Public Works Commission to help pay for the estimated $448,000 project along Front Street (Ohio 105) between Pine and Cedar streets.
"We can and should consider this," Mayor Gordon Bowman said. "The time is right to apply and the amount the village would be putting up seems doable. The project would be done in 2015."
Feller, Finch and Associates of Maumee has prepared the estimates and would file the grant application. The village will be pledging $65,000 as its match.
Council Member Randy Rothenbuhler said council's finance committee has discussed the project. "We have two years to set aside our match. It seems to be an achievable number for us to leverage $65,000 for nearly one-half million dollars."
