Perrysburg High School student suspect in threats via 'Net

PERRYSBURG – A Perrysburg High School student has been identified as the source of what police are calling “alarming” threats against fellow students posted online earlier this week.
According to a press release, on Monday, “the Perrysburg Police Division received a report from a Waterville resident of an alarming posting on the internet that contained threats against several students of Perrysburg High School.”
The matter was investigated, and it was discovered that the person identified as the author of the threats was not the one responsible for the posting.
“Further investigation by Perrysburg Police Division detectives led to the individual that was the true source of the posted internet threats”: a 16-year-old student at the school.
According to the press release, the name of the student is being withheld due to the ongoing nature of the investigation. No charges have been filed.
“Perrysburg High School officials have taken administrative action to address the behavior of the student responsible for the threats,” the release stated. “The investigation did not reveal evidence that any of the students targeted in the threatening internet posting were in imminent danger of harm.”
The Police Division will be consulting with the Wood County Prosecutor to determine appropriate criminal charges.
