John H. Hepler, Professor Emeritus of Speech and Theater, Bowling Green State University.
John Hepler died Tuesday, February 19, 2013 in Seaford, Delaware.
Mr. Hepler was born in Urbana, Ohio, in 1922. He attended Ohio Wesleyan University for three years and then enlisted in the Army in 1942. He served in the Rhineland Central European Theater with the 14th Armored Division, 62nd Armored Infantry Battalion. The 14th Armored Division became known as the The Liberators because they located and freed dozens of concentration and prisoner of war camps. During his three and a half years of service in he was awarded three Bronze Stars and was honorably discharged as First Sergeant. He then returned to Ohio Wesleyan to complete his undergraduate studies and went on to earn a Master's degree there in speech and theater.
