Carpet replaced at Kenwood due to mold issue
An issue of mold in the carpets at Kenwood Elementary is being taken care of this week.
Every summer, custodians clean the carpets in the school; this year they were cleaned during a hot, humid and rainy week. When problems developed getting the carpet dry, "white fuzzy mold that comes from dampness" appeared, said district Superintendent Ann McVey.
Spartan Chemical Company of Maumee did an analysis of the carpets and is treating them for the mold.
In a couple rooms where the carpet is really old, the district will replace it with leftover carpet squares from the Crim Elementary project, McVey said.
Carpet will be replaced in five classrooms, all in the building's west wing.
The work will be done by the end of this week.
