PORTAGE - A village man is being held in the Wood County jail on a series of charges after a standoff with police Tuesday night.
Just after 9 p.m. the Wood County Sheriff's Office received a 911 call from Ruben Baldonado, 42, at his home in the 200 block of South Second Street. Baldonado reportedly threatened to harm himself - specifically to commit "suicide by police officer" - and said he would shoot any deputies that came to his residence.
Paperwork filed in Bowling Green Municipal Court indicated Baldonado admitted he consumed a 12-pack of beer prior to the incident.
