Founded in 1958 by veteran actor Hugh O'Brian, HOBY's mission is to provide lifelong leadership development opportunities that empower individuals to achieve their highest potential. O'Brian set out to help young people make a difference and become positive catalysts for change - in the home, school, workplace, and community.
The area HOBY conference was held June 6-9 at Ohio Northern University in Ada.
Local high school sophomores who participated include Susan Johnson, Bowling Green High School; Jenna Selhorst and Mouriche Oakley, both of Eastwood High School; Heather Ickes, Elmwood High School; Kalyn Swihart and Zachary Greenlese, both of Lake High School; Allison Beaupry, North Baltimore High School; Charly Saar, Northwood High School; Sarah Schaller and Emily Cottle, Perrysburg High School, and Maggie Leahy, Rossford High School.
