On Wednesday, Hancock-Wood Electric Cooperative issued a Peak Demand Alert Notice for reduced electricity use until 6 p.m., today for all 12,974 of its commercial and residential accounts.  Temperatures in Northwest Ohio are expected to reach near or exceed the 100-degree Fahrenheit mark today and the remainder of the workweek. Peak Demand Alerts are expected to continue at the same time during the afternoon until Friday.
President and CEO George Walton said, "Due to these continuing high heat-index weather conditions, Hancock-Wood Electric Cooperative has issued another peak demand alert and likely for the remainder of the workweek. Because high demands on electric loads across Ohio are occurring, we are asking our members to conserve electricity during the afternoon in order to stabilize electric rates and control costs."
