COLUMBUS - Teens interested in exploring the outdoors are invited to attend the Ohio Forestry and Wildlife Conservation Camp. The camp will be held June 9-14 at FFA Camp Muskingum, on Leesville Lake in Carroll County.
The Ohio Forestry and Wildlife Conservation Camp is a week-long resident camp that combines fun and learning, with the goal of reaching the next generation of caretakers of Ohio's valuable natural resources. Programs at this year's camp include: tree identification, wildlife management, ecology, forest management, songbirds, archaeology, forest industries and stream monitoring, along with many others.
"Forestry is more than harvesting trees; it is about managing the resource. That resource includes the lumber in those trees, the clean air we breathe, the clean water we drink, the wildlife that use the woods and the beautiful views we enjoy," said ODNR Service Forester and Camp Co-Director Jeremy Scherf. "This camp does a great job of providing education about our natural resources to these kids while making it fun and helping them develop lifelong friendships."
