Collin Bechstein was chosen as this year's Linette Butler Award recipient as an exemplary quiz bowl member.
The eighth-grade member of Elmwood Middle School's quiz bowl team received his award on Tuesday at the Board of Governors meeting of the Wood County Educational Service Center.
The student was nominated by his coach Katie Smith. The award is in memory of Linette, a former member of the Bowling Green Christian Academy quiz bowl team who "personified the mission of the quiz bowl program."  The award was named in her honor as she was "a dedicated and competitive player who displayed strong leadership skills and courage throughout her battle with her illness."
The 2013 recipient's nomination highlighted most of those same attributes, according to Smith.
