PERRYSBURG - The Ohio Department of Transportation will be conducting more than 16 projects in Wood County as the 2013 construction season begins.
ODOT District 2 Deputy Director Todd Audet and Public Information Officer Theresa Pollick discussed the projects Wednesday.
The press conference was held at Books-A-Million in Levis Commons, both in deference to the rainy conditions, and to highlight one of the upcoming projects: a turn lane from northbound Ohio 25 onto eastbound Interstate 475.
Audet said that the state will be spending $170 million on over 70 projects in Northwest Ohio.
"Without good highways, our economy suffers," he said at the event.
Pollick said the new turn lane "will impact traffic at Levis Commons" to decrease the congestion experienced as the area expands.
The project is slated to cost approximately $333,000.
