Bowling Green and Efficiency Smart have a partnership to save money and energy for Bowling Green Municipal Utilities electric customers. Several local business and residents have already taken advantage of the program since it started in Bowling Green in January 2011, as more than 23,000 energy-saving measures had been installed through February 2013. This translates to 12,515 megawatt-hours of combined energy savings.
In addition to energy savings, Bowling Green business utility customers had received more than $487,000 in rebates through February of 2013, saved $981,638 in annual energy costs, and are expected to achieve more than $13,930,000 in savings over the lifetime of the installed measures. On the residential side, customers had received more than $21,000 in rebates through February of 2013, saved more than $39,000 in energy costs, and are expected to achieve more than $282,000 in savings over the lifetime of the installed measures.
