‘‘Greg’s commitment to student athletes is not just about winning games and matches,” said Michael J. Graham, S.J., the president of Xavier, a Jesuit Catholic school with an enrollment of approximately 6,600.
“Character and leadership building, academic excellence and community service are signature traits of how he runs a program,’’ Graham continued. ‘‘His commitment to our Jesuit value of caring for the whole person, makes him the right choice to lead Xavier’s athletic teams into the Big East Conference.”
Christopher will remain at BGSU until May 2. An interim AD and a search committee to replace Christopher are expected to be named in the next two weeks. He was the 12th full-time athletics director in school history.
“Greg Christopher has had a major leadership role in the University and in building a strong reputation for BGSU in the MAC (Mid-American Conference) and nationally,” BGSU President Mary Ellen Mazey said. “We will miss him greatly, but know that he will have an outstanding future at Xavier.”
