CLEVELAND — Led by three first-team selections, a total of 10 Bowling Green State University football players have earned All-Mid-American Conference honors.
David ‘Chief’ Kekuewa (center), Dominic Flewellyn (left guard), and Jerry ‘BooBoo’ Gates (safety), are BG's first-team selections. Gates is a repeat first-team pick.
Kekuewa, a senior captain, has anchored an offensive line which has led one of the top offensive units in the MAC. Kekuewa is in his second season with the Falcons having started all 25 games since arriving on campus. The Falcons have seen a huge increase in the rushing game in each of his two seasons. BG has averaged 180.4 rushing yards per game during his two seasons, but is averaging 209.7 yards per game rushing this season.
Flewellyn, a senior captain, has started 45 consecutive games at left guard. He has been an integral part of the rushing attack that averages over 200 yards per game. As a captain last season, Flewellyn was named to the All-MAC third team.
Gates, a senior captain, has 57 tackles, two interceptions, two forced fumbles, and three fumble recoveries on the season. He is the first player in school history to score touchdowns via interception, fumble, kickoff and punt returns in his career.
