Rossford’s Fire Chief Jim Verbosky has been suspended for five days because he signed another firefighter’s name to a run report.
Verbosky was on an emergency run Feb. 14. After transporting a patient to the hospital, he and another firefighter signed their own names to the report. But Verbosky signed for another firefighter on duty, who happens to be his nephew.
After looking into the matter, city officials suspended the chief starting Friday for five days.
City Administrator Ed Ciecka characterized it as sloppy paperwork that benefited none of those involved, and didn’t benefit the city.
Ciecka said he was baffled as to why Vebosky would have signed the report. “We can’t figure it out.”
