PERRYSBURG - Police have announced a new program, Operation Safe Shopper, during the holiday shopping season.
This effort involves the use of uniformed walking and bike patrols in the shopping areas, along with plain clothes surveillance dedicated to commercial shopping and parking areas. The goal is to maintain a high patrol profile in conjunction with low-profile criminal detection techniques to provide the safest shopping environment possible.
Police ask the public to help in this effort by reporting suspicious people and vehicles and staying aware of their surroundings while shopping. Officers will be passing out safe shopping tips to shoppers and businesses.
