The sentencing of a former Woodland Mall business owner on federal charges has been delayed in U.S. District Court for the third time.
Richard Schmidt, 47, Toledo, who owned Spindletop Sports Zone, pleaded guilty in July to two counts of being a felon in possession of a firearm, being a felon in possession of body armor, and trafficking in counterfeit goods.
The plea was entered as "conditional," allowing him to file an appeal on an evidentiary issue.
Schmidt was scheduled to be sentenced on Oct. 31, but the matter has been delayed three times since then, and is currently scheduled for Dec. 19 at 1 p.m. in the courtroom of U.S. District Court Judge Jack Zouhary.
Schmidt was arrested on Dec. 21, 2012 after FBI search warrants were executed at his home and the business.
