The Rossford Board of Education Monday hired one of its graduates to lead the school district.
On a 5-0 vote the board approved the contract for Dan Creps, a 1984 graduate of Rossford High School. Creps is principal of Woodland Elementary in Perrysburg.
He will assume his new duties in Rossford on April 1, according to district communications liaison Lisa Spotts.
His contract runs through July 31, 2015. He will be paid $115,000 annually through the 2013-2014 school year.
The vote came after the board announced last week that the board had decided on Creps. He was one of two finalists. The other was Dr. Deb Piotrowski, superintendent at Xenia.
Creps will replace Dr. Bill McFarland, who has been interim superintendent since fall, 2011.
Coming in April, Creps will be dropped into the middle of the district's study of what it needs to do with its buildings. The school district has charged a citizens group with taking a multi-pronged approach to deciding whether the district should build new schools or renovate existing structures, and what role the district's downtown campus will play.
