A long-time board member has returned to the Wood County Educational Service Center.
The board unanimously approved (4-0) at a special meeting Wednesday to appoint Tim Smith to fill the seat vacated last month by the resignation of Larry Tussing.
Smith will take over his duties immediately.
Smith previously served on the board for 16 years, but chose not to run for reelection in November 2011.
Tussing filled that empty seat, but resigned after having a scheduling conflict with the board. His last appearance at a board meeting was in December.
Smith is a former associate vice president for Research and Economic Development at Bowling Green State University. He retired in 2011.
"This retirement thing isn't working out the way I thought it would," the 70-year-old quipped before being sworn in.
