MILLBURY - In the space of three minutes, the Lake Township Trustees accepted the resignation of the interim fire chief, hired a full-time fire chief and re-appointed a deputy fire chief.
At Tuesday's meeting, the trustees officially hired Bruce Moritz as full-time fire chief for $5,000 a month.
After that motion was approved unanimously, the trustees accepted Interim Fire Chief Mike Hornyak's resignation, then voted to reappoint Hornyak as deputy fire chief.
Hornyak had been fire chief since Todd Walters resigned in February, along with two firefighters.
Moritz was hired at the last meeting, pending a background check, physical and mutually agreeable contract. He has been a fire chief for over 20 years, first with the Clay-Genoa Fire District from 1988 to 2000, then with the Allen-Clay Joint Fire District.
