Wood County Regional Airport Authority will receive additional federal funding this year to install more efficient lighting for one of the airport’s two runways.
The facility will get $321,951, up from the $150,000 the airport authority is eligible to receive each year.
Airport manager Matt McVicker said a portion will fund 90 percent of an overdue project beginning in September to install more efficient lighting to one runway.
A future runway expansion is planned to increase capacity of the airport and accommodate more consistent traffic, which would make the region more attractive to businesses, McVicker said.
