Alberna Welling, age 89, of Genoa, OH, formerly of Millbury, OH, a survivor of the 2010 Lake Township tornado, passed away on Sunday morning, August 18, 2013 at the Genoa Retirement Village, where she had been a resident for the past three years. She was born on August 15, 1924 in Clay Center, OH to Henry and Emma (Strahtman) Wilkins. On August 11, 1945 she married Irwin Welling in Genoa, OH and he preceded her in death on July 29, 2010.
Alberna was a homemaker and worked on the family farm with Irwin where they resided for 63 years.
She was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church, Stony Ridge, OH, and was a Sunday School Teacher. Her memberships also included St. John's Altar Guild, ELCW, Rebecca Circle, Ex-POW'S Auxiliary, Golden Seaway Farm Council, Farm Bureau, Lake Band Boosters, Lake PTA, and was a Den Mother for Scouts. In her spare time she loved working with flowers.
