Wood County residents received the most help with staying cool during the first month of the two-month Summer Crisis Cooling program operated by WSOS in its four-county service area.
There were 143 Wood County households who received a total of $9,068 in electric bills payments together with 26 air conditioners and 42 fans distributed.
Those who have not yet applied for assistance have until Aug. 30 to submit an application. Appointments are needed to submit an application, and may be made by calling 1-888-441-4327.
