Having recently read the Toledo Blade's editorial and Editor David Kushma's analysis of the state budget, we can easily say that they provided in-depth information about its problems whereas State Senator Randy Gardner's defense (Sentinel-Tribune, Tuesday, July 23) came across as a mostly superficial account that ignores the problems.
In Senator Gardner's account, there is little attention given to the ways in which this budget does not help the middle class or low-income Ohioans or the needy, and he says nothing about the federally-funded Medicaid expansion which his governor wanted. Apparently, he does not realize that an increase in the sales tax and the ten percent income tax cut will help the wealthy at the expense of all who are not wealthy.
