The Ohio Department of Transportation (ODOT) District Two announces the latest Gold Star recipient, John Nemcik.
Nemcik, of Bloomdale, recently received his sign along Ohio 18, one of two state routes he helps to clean up.
He dedicates his volunteer efforts to memorialize his mother and father. According to Nemcik, "The recognition is nice, but ultimately I want to memorialize my parents."
The Adopt-A-Highway sign reads, "In Memory of Doc and Lu Nemcik."
Nemcik has picked up litter on Route 18 in Wood county and Ohio 613 in Hancock County for 10 years. He encourages other individuals and organizations to get involved because "it helps keep the community clean and creates awareness to this preventable problem."
