PERRYSBURG - The 577 Foundation will celebrate the 25th anniversary of preserving Virginia Secor Stranahan's Perrysburg estate with a free public event Saturday from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m.
The 12-acre property has been protected from development since 1988 when Stranahan sought to reserve it for environmental and educational opportunities. Since then, it's drawn 30,000-40,000 guests each year who participate in classes, pottery, tours and other community events.
Saturday's celebration will be all-encompassing, serving as a showcase for all the activities and offerings of the foundation, located at 577 E. Front St.
Stranahan's former home will feature music and birthday cake, and guests will be invited to take home a planted item from one of the newly-constructed greenhouses. Tours will give guests the chance to view the manor where Stranahan lived.
