Two months ago Rock Vetell decided the time was right to open the only archery pro shop in Wood County.
Rock Solid Archery sells “anything that has to do with archery. Bows, arrows, targets. We do a lot of service work as far as restringing bows and tuning them.” The store also sells accessories for targets and equipment for bow hunting. “I got crossbows, Broadheads, releases, sights and rests.”
The store will soon be a registered check station for deer and will be able to sell hunting and fishing licenses. Vetell sells his own line of Morning Wood Custom arrows and maintains the only archery shooting range in the county.
Adults pay $10.00 per hour to use the outdoor range. “You can shoot anywhere from 0 to 40 yards if you want.” Vetell lets kids participating in 4H shoot at the range for free.
“I’ve been doing archery for a while, hunting and shooting archery for forty years,” Vetell says. “It’s growing more and more, I see a lot more kids doing it.”
