Twenty-eight Owens Community College students recently were honored for their exemplary academic achievements as new Ohio Basic Peace Officer Training Academy graduates during a completion ceremony.
As part of the seven-month program, Owens police academy students take courses in patrol operations, firearms, defensive tactics and criminal investigation using modern, high-tech police equipment.
Participants receive expert instruction from local police officers, sheriff's deputies and corrections officers, as well as state and federal agents.
