Sheriff Mark Wasylyshyn said this morning that the increase was noted over the weekend. Farmers looking to harvest crops have not been able to get their large trucks, hoppers, and other machinery into the fields due to the wet and sloppy conditions, which can cause the vehicles to sink into the muck.
Wasylyshyn said that drivers may not be used to seeing such vehicles on the roads.
John Young, a farmer who grows corn, wheat and beans near Ohio 582 and Anderson Road, echoed the concerns.
While he said that he has been able to get about half of his crops off of the fields so far, “there’ll be still some on there this week. Tell (people) to be careful with wagons and trucks along the road. They can’t pull onto the field because they’re so wet.”
