A Bowling Green benefit to aid a local man who has been diagnosed with stage 4 lung cancer is being planned for June 29.
Stan Irvin, a longtime local contractor and carpenter, recently received the difficult news that he has the most serious stage of lung cancer, which has metastasized to the liver.
Irvin, 61, is well known in Wood County, having built many homes, along with decks, cabinets and other items for people living in the surrounding area over the past 40 years. He is a diehard Cincinnati Bengals fan as well as a NASCAR follower.
"Stan took ill right before Christmas and has been forced to take an indefinite leave of absence," explained close friend Kathy Henry. Expenses related to his medicines and doctor's appointments, as well as regular monthly bills, are piling up as Irvin has no medical insurance.
His formal diagnosis of cancer was made last month.
