ROSSFORD — City Council approved a new three-year contract with its police patrol officers and command officers Monday.
The new contract calls for the police to receive 3-percent raises in each year of the contract.
City Administrator Ed Ciecka said that the city has made some gains in the contract including additional leeway in hiring part-time officers and granting compensatory time that may cause overtime. The new contract also caps at $12,500 the amount of educational reimbursement a police officer may receive.
These ideas, Ciecka said, were recommended in a performance audit of the city conducted several years ago.
Union members will also join city officials on a committee to study health insurance coverage.
