Boys State convenes Sunday at BGSU

Buckeye Boys State, a mock government organization for high school junior boys, is back at Bowling Green State University for the 36th year.
More than 1,200 delegates will descend upon Bowling Green beginning Sunday and they will remain here for a week. While here, they will learn about the inner-workings of government, hear from representatives from the executive, legislative and judicial branches, and be educated on the importance of being a good citizen.
Several state officials will visit Boys State throughout the week, including Gov. John Kasich. The governor will speak to the delegates at 3 p.m. Monday in the McDonald Residence Hall quadrangle.
At the opening ceremony Sunday night at the Stroh Center, BGSU President Dr. Mary Ellen Mazey and Boys State President Richard Zulch, of Jerry City, will address the delegates along with State Sen. Randy Gardner, R-Bowling Green.
