As many would agree, Bockbrader has given a lot to the community.
On March 23, the community plans to give back to Bockbrader, who has been diagnosed with colon cancer.
Organizers are planning a benefit for him at the American Legion Hall in Pemberville from 8 p.m. to midnight on March 23. The event will feature live music from a familiar band, Sound of Sorgenbrecher. There will also be food, drinks, raffles and a 50/50 drawing.
"It's our way to show Jimmy we, as a community, support him," said Bill Kuhlman, one of the event's organizers.
The event is being put on by the American Legion Post 183 Calf Club and Sons of the American Legion Post 183.
Bockbrader, who has worked at Fork's for years, was described by Roger Sergent, another event organizer, as "the type of guy who knows your name when you walk in."
"We just felt we should show him support," Sergent said.
