Mushrooms, fish and brain exercises will all be in the offing with upcoming programs from the Wood County Park District, beginning Wednesday.
"May Shrooms," a two-part program focusing on mushroom identification, will be held Wednesday at 6:16 p.m. at the W. W. Knight Nature Preserve Friends' Green Room, Perrysburg, and Saturday, at 10 a.m. at a location to be announced. Attendees will learn fungi identification basics and then go out to learn in the field; mushroom sampling may also take place. Registration is required, and attendees must go to the Wednesday session to come on the Saturday field trip.
A Native Nursery Night will be held Thursday at 6:30 p.m. at the Reuthinger Preserve, Northwood. Volunteers may be asked to plant, water, weed or collect seed, should dress to work outdoors, and bring gloves if available.
"Something Fishy in our Streams?" will be held May 20 at 6:30 p.m. at Otsego Park. Attendees will take a look at a number of fish that live in the area, and should come prepared to get in the river as this will be a hands-on program.
