LIME CITY - Perrysburg Township is seeking bids for asbestos abatement, and the eventual demolition, of the former Lime City School.
Documents seeking requests for proposals from companies for the work were posted to the township Web site this week.
Bids are due May 28.
The building, formerly part of the Rossford School District, sits on Lime City Road, just north of U.S. 20. The school was closed in 1982 and never re-opened, according to district records.
Township Administrator Walt Celley said that the five-acre property was purchased in December from the district for approximately $110,000. About $50,000 is expected to be invested in the demolition. The building itself, he said, is in desperate shape.
